Unless you have all the business you can handle, and who does these days – a website is a wonderful marketing tool. Whenever I visit a new town, I love to look online to see what might be within walking distance of my hotel. I look up restaurants and craft stores. I look for museums and interesting things to do. If your business not listed I might never find you.
A website can help you connect with your existing customers, find new customers and advertise specials and events. Of course this can all be done by email, but without a “home base,” your online presence is unconnected and potential new customers may never find you. If you rely on Facebook or MySpace for your online presence you could face changes in their site policies one day and be out of luck.
Do you rely on the yellow pages for people to find your store? That’s so 20th century! How many times have we gotten the big book from our local phone company only to toss it in the corner untouched until the next year’s edition comes out? I can’t remember the last time I have used one to look up a phone number or address.
A website is so much more than business card or an address listing. It should be an extension of you, a reason for people to look you up online and then visit in person. Tell the world why you are passionate about your products. Show everyone how excited you are to have this business. In turn, that will drive more customers to your door. Show me beautiful photographs of your store, food, and ambiance. Let me see what kind of products you sell. A good photo is worth more than a thousand words – maybe even a million bucks!
A website doesn’t have to be expensive, but it needs to look professional. There are many packages that can help in this arena. It is a good idea to have an experienced web designer look at your business and analyze your needs. There are many reasons to have an online presence and I can help. Give me a call or send an email so we can start talking about your new presence on the World Wide Web!
